Our Engagement Story
We've both known since the weekend we first met that we're meant to be together. Now it's official!

On 16 November, I came over to England for 3 weeks to celebrate an early Christmas with him, since we weren't going to be able to be together for the actual holiday. We spent the last week in November in London, sightseeing, shopping, and just enjoying being together. On tuesday we went to my favourite museum on earth, the Victoria & Albert in Knightsbridge, just a short walk from our hotel. It was very cold and windy out, so I took the excuse to wear my luscious new cashmere dress that Sean gave me for Christmas! He was wearing a sweater and pants I'd gotten him for Christmas too, and was looking awfully nice if you ask me :)

So we walked over there after breakfast, and wandered hand in hand through the sculpture halls, just admiring all the beautiful artwork and crafstmanship surrounding us. For me it was a particularly wonderful time because when I lived in London in 1991, I used to spend a lot of time at the V&A alone, and it was so nice to be able to share it with someone so special to me, it was like a dream come true.

We were standing between a plaster cast of the Trajan Column and the Porto del Gloria from a cathedral in Spain (basically at the back of the room pictured here). I went up to the Porto del Gloria to admire the bronze work on the doors, and when I turned around to point something out to Sean, he looked really nervous for some reason. So I went back over to him, and he pulled me down on a bench next to him, and we sat there in silence for a moment before he kissed me, and then got down his knees in front of me.

My heart stopped. He held my face in his hands and told me how much he loved me and that I was the only girl he ever wanted to be with, that we belonged together. Then he asked me to marry him, and I promptly accepted! Whereupon, he produced an absolutely stunning ring from his pocket and slipped it on my finger, thus making me an engaged woman, and us a very happy couple!

That night, we got all dressed up and went to a very fancy dinner at The Ivy (funny, as our first fancy date was to the Ivy restaurant in Los Angeles!) and to see Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre. We both agreed on our way to sleep that night that it had been pretty much a perfect day.

So that's the story, we're to be married 28 July 2002, and I can't wait to become Sean's wife!
